This article gives you an overview of the steps involved in integrating the Applozic Android SDK in Java or Kotlin android project.
The first step is installation where our Android SDK will be added to your project.
It involves adding the dependency in your gradle file and some activities, permissions, and services in your AndroidManifest file. Check out the detailed steps for installation here
Once the installation is done then the next step is authentication. Here your users will be authenticated before they can use the messaging feature.
It involves creating a User object and then authenticating it with Applozic. Check out our authentication section for detailed steps.
Next step is creating a conversation. Whether we want to create a new conversation or we want to show the list of conversations a user already has, this is the section you should check.
One of the most important steps in this whole process is
push notificationsetup. Only after this setup, you will receive real-time messages and the notifications. Here we need to add the FCM server key on Applozic dashboard and add methods in your FirebaseMessageService FcmIdListenerService classes required to register and receive push notifications.
Also, you need to register for push notification in the onSuccess of Applozic login . Once this setup is done then we can receive the push notification in our app. Check out detailed steps here.
- If the above setup is done then we have already covered all the major points required to receive and send messages. We have a few more sections where we cover some topics like Contact setup(where we can create and show contacts), Customization (involving UI customization and feature settings), Localization etc.
